Bottle Brushes

Shopping in a baby lane for something as simple as a bottle brush can be frustrating. There are so many types to choose from. Brands make 2-3 versions of similar looking bottle brushes. Some are stiff, some are soft, some unscrew and have a cute little clever brush for those hard to reach places.

But the first time, finding the right isle alone could mean multiple spins around the "baby" area. First its the diaper isle. Diapers, numbers, colors everywhere! A bunch of smiling babies are there too. I have had two different reactions in this same area. First time I went to the store for diapers I went alone. My husband stayed home with the babe and I drove myself to Target. As I looked for his diapers and saw all the babies, I felt so incredibly sad and missed him so much. I wanted my little one there. The other was looking for diapers and looking at all the smiling faces and turning to my little one and giving him a big kiss. One sad and one happy reaction, all from diapers.

Unfortunately, no bottle brushes in the diaper isle. Next isle, infant formula and toddler foods. Could it be there? You go for it! Nope. Next, baby car seats and high chairs. You wheel past it, you didn't see any brushes there when you looked for the baby's car seat. Up next follows a very colorful isle, it has many plastic plates, cups, spoons...you take a gamble. This might be the isle. It is! Awesome. You look up and down at the bottle brushes and realize they all look the same. You have to take a closer look. You grab one. The tip is blue, but you wonder, how stiff is it? I have newborn, will it even fit his bottle? Here's another one, looks the same, but the tip, the tip looks spongy. Maybe this one? Wait, it has a cute little brush for smaller bottles. Awwww!! You turn to the other package, it does too! Damn, you thought that would be the deal breaker. OK. You go with the stiffer brush, you figure, more effective cleaning.

You come home. It's too stiff and so are the bristles. You should have gone for the softer tip. The harder tip gets into the newborn bottle, but getting it out makes water and soap go everywhere in the kitchen. You use it, you bought it.

Inevitably you return to the same isle for a replacement. You know where the brushes are this time. You purchase the other, and hope for the best.
